Harness Racing Club
GOLD COAST HARNESS RACING CLUB
The Harness racing track is 1000-metre long. The surface consists of a granite mixture, which is considered to be one of the best racing surfaces in Australia.
Over $1million was spent on underground drainage, which flows into a man-made lake in the centre of the Harness track. The water is then used for irrigating both tracks. As a result, during the time Parklands Gold Coast has been functioning, it has never had to use water from the town water supply. So the drainage system has certainly proved itself unique.
The Gold Coast Harness Racing Club is referred to as an innovator in Harness Racing as it was the first club in Australia to permanently install a sprint lane. The introduction of the sprint lane was a great step forward, giving more horses a chance to win or at least fill a minor placing.
The on-course stabling is designed in such a way that a mezzanine section actually houses the kennel block for the Greyhounds so it has been possible to have dual Harness/Greyhound race meetings, with each race being approximately 20 minutes apart.
These race meetings are fully covered by SKY Racing Channel and the TAB Outlets around Australia.
We have two racing codes that conduct four race meetings a week. Every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon for the Greyhounds. The Harness race meetings are every Thursday lunchtime and Friday nights.
Once you arrive at Parklands Gold Coast you are fully under cover and in air-conditioned comfort. Our betting auditorium opens every race day, please check with the club for details. Fully renovated restaurant and function areas in one of Queenslands best racing club layouts with over 85 TV monitors and six widescreens providing up-to-date racing information.
The auditorium features three sections, the betting auditorium, general lounge and finally the bar area. Each area has its own set of TV screens, so that the punter is never out of touch.
